Abstract

Antibakteri merupakan zat atau senyawa yang memiliki kemampuan untuk menghambat pertumbuhan (bakteriostatik) atau membunuh (bakterisidal) bakteri. Senyawa tersebut menyebabkan terjadinya denaturasi pada membran sel bakteri, sehingga mempengaruhi difusi senyawa keluar masuk. Akibat terjadinya lisis pada bakteri tersebut, sehingga menghambat pertumbuhannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri fraksi etil asetat daun jarak pagar (jatropha culcas L.) dan daun ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas L.) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen, dilakukan di Laboratorium Biologi Farmasi Fakultas Kesehatan Universitas Aufa Royhan Kota Padangsidimpuan. Sampel yang digunakan adalah daun jarak pagar dan daun ubi jalar. Hasil zona hambat fraksi etil asetat  daun jarak pagar dan daun ubi jalar pada konsetrasi 20% dengan kategori sedang, sedangkan zona hambat paling tinggi terdapat pada konsentrasi 60% dengan kategori kuat. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa faksi etil asetat daun Jarak Pagar (jatropha curcas.L) dan daun Ubi Jalar (Ipomoea batatas.L) memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri. Disarankan hasil penelitian ini dapat berguna bagi masyarakat dalam bentuk sediian (formula) yang dapat digunakan sebagai antibakteri.
